  • 2024 LIVE_Innov Grant Agreement Signature
  • We are delighted to announce that the LIVE Consortium has signed a third Grant Agreement with the EACEA awarding the quality label “Erasmus Mundus Joint Master – EMJM” to the European project LIVE_Innov (Ref. # 101172104). Therefore, the Master LIVE remains in the EMJM catalogue of the European Masters of Excellence. This new funding from the European Union is empowering us to train about 160 international vaccinologists over the period 2024-2030, with the newly designed programme: “Leading International Vaccinology Education for Innovation – LIVE_Innov”.

  • EACEA evaluation report summary
  • LIVE_Innov received a very high rating (90/100) in its evaluation report. The reviewers highlighted the fact that “The proposed Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) ambition is to train the next generation of vaccinologists. It is very relevant to EMJM programme objectives and addresses an important area of science. The master’s is a multidisciplinary offer involving scientists, bioengineers, clinicians, pharmacologists and veterinarians, addressing vaccine research, design, innovation, preclinical and clinical development to scale-up, production, regulatory affairs, communication and public health. The proposed EMJM is relevant to many European priorities and has adequate reference to European strategic plans, agendas, frameworks, recommendations, reviews and policy discussions.

  • Historically
  • The “LIVE” programme was funded (M€ 2.41) by a first EMJM label in 2015 to train three generations of vaccinologists from 2016: the Jenner, Pasteur & Montagu prom’.
  • Then, a second EMJM label with funding (M€ 3.934) awarded in 2018 allowed us to implement the “LIVE+” program to train five generations of vaccinologists from 2019: the Hilleman, Barré-Sinoussi, Gilbert, Karikó & Plotkin prom’.
  • We have therefore to date generated about 160 international vaccinologists of 56 nationalities.
  • New era: in September 2024, the Belkaid prom’ started the “LIVE_Innov” programme, supported by a third EMJM label awarded in 2024 with funding (M€ 4.908), which allows the LIVE Academic Management Board to increase the number of full scholarships to more than 80 to finance the best international students motivated by vaccinology.

  • The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programme “Leading International Vaccinology Education for Innovation – LIVE_Innov”
  • welcomes motivated Scientists, Bioengineers, Clinicians, Pharmacists and Veterinarians, with at least a Bachelor level in cellular or molecular biolology, biochemistry, microbiology, physiology and immunology to educate them into skilled vaccinologists adapted to our changing world. LIVE_Innov is a 2-year Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences with multidisciplinary transferable skills and humanities.
  • awards 120 credits (ECTS) in vaccine research, design, innovation, preclinical and clinical development to scale-up, produce vaccines with quality, managing regulatory affairs, communicating on vaccines & public health, fostering access to safe existing and new vaccines, understanding health economics pillars, fighting epi/pandemics to ensure that vaccines save more lives.
  • – is jointly produced by five leading universities for at least two student mobilities with semester 1 (S1) jointly at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Universitat de Barcelona (ES), S2 at Universiteit Antwerpen (BE), S3 jointly at Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Etienne and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (FR), in agreement and close collaboration with 62 associated partners (AP) from 23 countries. LIVE APs cover the vaccinology work chain to host 30 students a year for their S4 6-month professional internship in academia or private institutions promoting internationality, creativity and employability.
  • will educate 160+ vaccinologists of 60+ nationalities by 2030, connected to the growing LIVE Alumni family, to tackle challenges for developing prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines, being involved in “Reality projects” in research, training, communication and innovation.
  • takes care of our changing world by imagining future vaccines, lowering negative impacts of Anthropocene: from efficient “green” production and administration of vaccines to future adaptive vaccinology quickly dealing with climate change-induced emerging diseases and benefiting from AI for innovation.
  • What do you need for the design, development and implementation of future vaccines?
  • All you need is love – the LIVE_Innov programme!
